About Lynne Rose

Lynne Rose was born in York, England, and migrated to Australia in the early 1980’s where she ran a 4000 acre sheep farm with her first husband. While in the outback, Lynne tried many crafts, including pottery, silversmithing and leatherwork, but never really “took” to quilting. In the late 1990’s she met and married her second husband, an American, and moved to the US.

On retirement in 1999, they found a home in Waynesville, North Carolina, and Lynne joined a group of quilters known as the “Shady Ladies”. In 2001, with their encouragement, she entered her first quilt show and was awarded a third prize ribbon for her quilt, one of 11 she was eventually to make for her grandchildren. This began a love of quilting which has continued to grow over the years. Lynne enjoys all types of projects, from piecing to applique, and although she has used commercial patterns, prefers to design her own quilts.

In 2002 Lynne attended a hand dyeing class given by Judy Simmons, and since then has dyed most of the fabrics she uses in her quilts. She also runs Fabric Dyeing Classes, and has her fabrics for sale.

Lynne has two children and two grandchildren in Australia, and three stepchildren and 9 grandchildren in the US.
